Don't Get Frustrated.

So you have set your goals for the year. You have found a great trainer or a good health club and you are working out consistantly. You are investing time and money and you are eating what you think is a good diet and you still do not look the way you would like to look. Don't get frustrated! Understand that all the hard work you are putting into getting in better shape is probobly benefiting you in many wonderful ways. Take time to appreciate all the acheivements you have made so far, and leave the negativity behind. That negative energy will only way you down, figuratively and literally. Stressing out over whether or not you have 6 pack abs can actually make it harder to attain them. Stress causes levels of a hormone called cortisol to rise often leading to more belly fat. So let go of all the baggage and be happy with yourself. Your body will thank you for it!

Know Your Limits!

I heard from a fellow trainer that yesterday the 21st of January was decided upon by professional analysts to be a day where people might have extreme depression. One of the reasons that people are supposed to be depressed is because they are supposed to have now realized that they are not going to be able to live up to their newly set goals. I am also sure that there is another population of people out there that have set their goals and are overly aggressive in trying to reach them. The bottom line is this. Know your limits! It is great to challenge yourself, and try to make changes in your life, but if you do not use proper progression and ease into these changes, you could be setting yourself up for failure or worse! Learn how to listen to what your body is trying to tell you. Try to hear when you body says enough is enough. Ultimately this will bring more balance into your life!

New Years Resolution or New Years disappointment?

2008 is here and I know you might be one of the many people out there making a New Years Resolution. You have a brand new year to improve upon all the things that have been bothering you about yourself and your life. The problem is that many people make resolutions that are unrealistc and or they do not know how to execute or hold themselves accountable to their new found goals. This is extremely true in the world of fitness and exercise related resolutions. We all know what we should be doing in order to stay healthy and lose weight. The problem is we do not know how to apply the knowledge that we have. Without application, your knowledge will just get you writing really cool blogs and not losing weight! Try making a list of SMART goals. (Specific Manageable Aggressive Realistic Timeframed) Write your goals down and make sure that your resolutions can parallel your activites of daily life.
